Known limitations

360p max for combined downloads

YouTube's public API returns a single combined (video + audio) MP4 at 360p for Shorts. Higher-quality streams (720p, 1080p) exist but are video-only — they'd need a separate audio track merged in, which requires server-side video processing not available in our serverless setup. Most downloader sites have the same limitation.

Bot-detection on popular videos

YouTube flags high-traffic videos (viral music, trending content) with a "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" check. This is enforced server-side by YouTube and cannot be bypassed without a verified account token. If you see this error, try a different video — most Shorts work fine.

Private, age-restricted, and DRM content

Private videos and age-restricted videos require a YouTube sign-in and cannot be downloaded. Some content is also protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) that prevents any third-party download.

Videos that are blocked in certain countries may not be downloadable depending on where our servers are located. If a video plays fine for you but fails here, it may be geo-restricted.
